Ticketed Entry Returns To Dinosaur National Monument's Exhibit Hall On May 1

Ticketed entry to the Quarry Exhibit Hall at Dinosaur National Monument is set to begin May 1/NPS file

Come May 1 you'll be able to visit the Quarry Exhibit Hall at Dinosaur National Monument in Utah, but you'll need a ticket as the park staff continues to cope with the coronavirus pandemic.

The ticketing system will assist visitors in complying with continuing COVID-19 public health guidelines by reducing crowds and managing the pace and flow of visitation.

Visitors planning trips to Dinosaur will be able to reserve a time to visit the Dinosaur Quarry Exhibit Hall—an indoor museum featuring fossilized dinosaur bones in situ—on Recreation.gov for $1 per ticket. The standard monument entrance fees are still required in addition to a timed ticket. Tickets to the Dinosaur Quarry Exhibit Hall will be required beginning on May 1.

Roughly 60 percent of tickets for each day will be available two weeks in advance, with 40 percent available two days in advance. Same day tickets need to be reserved prior to 7 a.m. For visitors without access to a computer or smart phone, tickets can be purchased through the Recreation.gov call center 1-877-444-6777 which is open from 10 a.m. to midnight ET, seven days a week.

Timed ticket reservations will apply only to accessing the Dinosaur Quarry Exhibit Hall. All other activities and areas of the monument will be open for recreation without tickets as they have in the past. Dinosaur National Monument will suspend the ticketing system once the monument is able to safely resume normal operations.

Dinosaur National Monument’s annual visitation is approximately 300,000 to 325,000. While the monument covers more than 210,000 acres, the Quarry Exhibit Hall receives more than 90 percent of that annual visitation. Most visitors arrive at the visitor center, then board a shuttle that takes them to the Quarry Exhibit Hall. The visitor center parking lot often fills during the summer, and visitors may experience a high level of congestion in the visitor center and the Quarry Exhibit Hall from late-May through mid-September and on weekends. Timed ticket reservations will allow travelers to plan ahead and time their visit to avoid overcrowding.

Just setup recreation.gov and did a search for the Quarry Site and the search did not bring up the Quarry Musuem.

Can nps make this any harder to buy tickets? Nps reefers to recreation.com who states on their website they dont issue tix to quarry ex hall. Hello, anyone there?

For anyone looking to visit Dinosaur National Monument this summer or onward, it is important to note that this information is now out of date. This was a COVID precaution for last summer that has since been changed. Dinosaur National Monument currently has no timed entry. For the most up-to-date information it is always best to check for any alerts on the park's official page. In this case, nps.gov/dino
