Lake Crescent Lodge, Following Renovations, Opens Thursday In Olympic National Park

Following some significant renovations, Lake Crescent Lodge in Olympic National Park is ready to open for the summer season on Thursday.

Located within the national park not far from Port Angeles, Lake Crescent Lodge is known for its turn-of-the-century charm, historic cottages, and gorgeous setting on the shore of Lake Crescent. The lodge houses 52 guest rooms within four buildings and 20 cottages, all of which were renovated over the winter months by ARAMARK Parks and Destinations, which took over management of the property in 2010.

“Lake Crescent Lodge is a beautiful, quintessential historic lodge with fantastic views, a large and bright sunroom, and access to some of the park’s best trails and water activities,” says Amanda Lovelady, district manager for ARAMARK Parks and Destinations on the Olympic Peninsula. “The renovation focused on restoring the lodge’s original charm and period characteristics, which had been lost over the years, specifically in the Roosevelt and Singer Cottages.”

A majority of the emphasis for the restoration has been on the historic Roosevelt and Singer Tavern cottages. The cottages now feature new furnishings, drapery, lighting and a complete bathroom remodel, which includes decorative tile work in the showers and tubs in the Roosevelt Cottages and new pedestal sinks in the Singer Cottages. The cottages also received new flooring in bathrooms and painted walls with the addition of beadboard. The Singer Tavern Cottages received new roofs last fall.

All other rooms at Lake Crescent Lodge received renovations that provide an enhanced guest experience. New paint, draperies, bedding, and furniture, and similar updates in the two-story Pyramid building as well as Storm King building provide a refreshed look and better guest comfort.

To better accommodate the needs of guests, two accessible rooms have been added to the Marymere building, the more contemporary single-story guest building on the shore of Lake Crescent. Marymere rooms also received fresh paint, custom-crafted furniture and upgrades to the bathrooms and lighting.

Thursday also marks the beginning of the interpretive activities program at Lake Crescent Lodge, offered daily throughout the summer season. The program includes guided kayak tours, interpretive guided hikes for a fee, free evening campfire stories and complimentary interpretive walks. Our family enjoyed staying in one of the a-frame cabins by Lake Crescent, and riding on hydrobikes there in 2000. Great memories! I'd love to go back again, and stay in the Lodge.
