BiographyHi - I'm a 57 year-old man. Married with two grown children. Employed by a major airline as an aircraft maintenance technician. Spent 21 years in the USAF, and I'm a VietNam vet. My son is on active duty in the USAF. My daughter works for a law firm in California.
I love the National Parks, and I feel they are a legacy for our grandchildren's grandchildren. I enjoy hiking, camping, and sailing. I'm an animal lover. My wife and I share our home with two dogs and two parrots.
I am a member of the NRA. So is my Dad, my brother, and my son.
I like to think that I have an open mind.

Only cost me $200. I had to attend an all-day class. I waited 5 months for my permit to come in the mail; background checks take time. It is NOT valid in California. Check this ...
- 7/25/2008 10:28 am - Is the National Park Service Obligated to Better Promote Proposed Change in Gun Regulations? : You've made a good point here Doc. I believe that most of those who oppose this rule change are those who are mis-informed or totally UN-INFORMED about guns and gun issues. How else could you cause someone to be so afraid of their next-door neighbor who has completed a background ...

- 7/16/2008 5:50 pm - Studies Show Bear Spray More Effective Than Guns Against Grizzlies : You people amaze me. I do NOT have to justify my NEED to have my firearm. YOU have to justify why YOU think it is OK for you try to strip me of my Constitutional RIGHT !!
- 7/10/2008 4:32 pm - Comment Period Reopens on Whether National Park Visitors Can Arm Themselves : Cate - I'm also a nature lover. If you met me on the trail, you'd wouldn't know whether I was armed or not. After we parted ways, you'd probably think to yourself, "What a nice man". If you only knew. I feel sorry for you and your irrational fears. Good ...

- 7/10/2008 2:39 pm - Violent Deaths in the National Parks : Point to ponder about a "gun-free" utopia: In 87% of rape cases, the assailant is UNARMED. The only protection the victim has is to kick and scream. I'm buying my wife a gun for Christmas. Don't tell her; it's a surprise!
- 7/10/2008 10:47 am - Comment Period Reopens on Whether National Park Visitors Can Arm Themselves : I just read a page-full of the "new" comments. They're pretty much like the previous 60 days of comments. Almost all of them SUPPORT the proposed rule change allowing concealed-carry. I read one that OPPOSED the change: they were sure that their vacation would be ruined if they knew people ...
- 7/05/2008 10:27 am - Comment Period for Proposed Gun Rule Change in National Parks Extended 30 Days : Kurt - you're right on about the snowmobile issue and the comments. Almost makes you wonder why they bother to solicit comments. They just do what they want anyway. Whatever happened to "We the people"?
