Program On Cabin Architecture Offered At St. Croix National Scenic Riverway

Backwoods log cabins carry a certain charm, at least if they were well-constructed and maintained. Next weekend you can learn a little bit about the architectural history of cabins during a program at St. Croix National Scenic Riverway in Wisconsin.

The program, this coming Saturday at 10 a.m., will explore "Cabin Architecture, Yesterday and Today" and be led by Dale Mulfinger

The riverway, which runs through parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin, lies within the midst of cabin country with more than a century of interesting cabin creations. This talk will explore the past of some of those architectural designs, and where the designs might go in the years ahead. It will include examples of historic cabins from the St. Croix watershed.

Dale Mulfinger is the author of The Cabin: Inspiration for the Classic American Getaway and Cabinology: A Handbook to Your Private Hideaway. He has been designing and recording cabins for a quarter of a century in five books and more than 100 articles.

The presentation is free and open to the public. It will take place at the St. Croix River Association office, 230 South Washington Street, Unit 1, in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin (next to the St. Croix Falls Public Library).
