Montana Man Found Dead On Yellowstone National Park Ski Trail

Share

A Montana man thought to be out for a cross-country ski in Yellowstone National Park apparently died of hypothermia, park officials said Monday.

The body of Merik Morgan, 52, from Belgrade, Mont., was spotted during the weekend by some snowshoers. Park rangers responded to the Frog Rock Trailhead, which is south of the Grand Loop Road, 8.5 miles east of Mammoth Hot Springs. They found the man's body not far from the ski trail along the Blacktail Plateau Drive.

While initial indications are that the man succumbed to hypothermia, the incident remains under investigation.

Dakohta - given the list of deaths in NPs  (which approaches 100 annually vs 16 in drilling accidents), I guess there is a substantially larger downside to National Parks than drilling.  Perhaps we should shut them down.
