Historic Old Fall River Road At Rocky Mountain National Park Closing For Repairs

Share

Old Fall River Road, a popular, historic one-way dirt road from the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park to the Alpine Visitor Center, will be closed for about two weeks for repairs to damage caused by avalanches.

Park officials say the road was damaged by avalanches during the spring of 2011. The repair project is scheduled to start Monday, June 17, and continue through July 2.

As a result, Old Fall River Road will be closed completely to all uses, 24-hours/day, during that period.

Closure signs will be placed at the Alpine Visitor Center and the gate at Endovalley. The project involves heavy equipment and moving large rocks to repair the retaining wall.
