This year marks the 100th anniversary for completion of Glacier Park Lodge at Glacier National Park.

Constructed in 1912 and 1913 by the Great Northern Railway, the lodge is one of the classic Western lodges built to lure tourists to travel by train to the scenic West. The Great Northern also constructed Many Glacier Hotel and Prince of Wales Hotel, two other iconic national park lodges.

To celebrate the lodge’s centennial year, concessionaire Glacier Park, Inc. is throwing a party on June 22nd. The celebration, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., includes a rededication ceremony, live music, and food. This is a complimentary event that is open to the public. Reservations are not required.

An evening meal taken from the 1913 inaugural year menu will be served in the lodge’s Great Northern Dining Room at 6:00 p.m. The dinner will mark exactly 100 years from the official 1913 grand opening ceremony. The meal, which includes entertainment, is offered for $45 per person. Information and reservations are available by calling (406) 892-2525.

As part of the celebration, the concessionaire is offering a Centennial Year Package that includes one night’s lodging, breakfast for two, and a Centennial Blanket for $268.25 plus tax from May 28 through September 22.
