Search Under Way Friday For Missing Man In Rocky Mountain National Park

Share

Nightfall Friday was expected to chase searchers out of the backcountry of Rocky Mountain National Park where they were looking for a Texas man who failed to appear at a conference as planned.

Troy Green, 39, of San Antonio, was reported missing by his wife when she couldn't reach him on Thursday, park officials said. On Friday afternoon a description of his rental car was circulated by the Denver Police Department, and rangers spotted it at the Bear Lake parking lot inside the park.

While 14 searchers, including two dog teams from Larimer County Search and Rescue, were sent into the area surrounding the lake Friday afternoon, they were expected to pull out by nightfall due to extremely cold temperatures and gusting winds, park officials said.

Search efforts were expected to begin anew Saturday morning. If anyone was visiting the Bear Lake area on Thursday or Friday, park rangers would like to hear from you. Please call Rocky Mountain National Park at (970) 586-1204.
