Book Commemorating Glacier National Park's Centennial Arrives

Share

The growing celebration of Glacier National Park's centennial is definitely a group effort. On December 12 part of that effort will be showcased with the release of a book filled with 100 poems and stories from folks who have fallen in love with the park down through the years.

On that date the Glacier Association will host an open house and reception to showcase A View Inside Glacier National Park: 100 Years, 100 Stories from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their store at 402 9th Street West in Columbia Falls, Montana.

Less than a year ago, the Glacier Centennial Program made a call for stories to help commemorate Glacier’s 100th anniversary. As the name suggests, this book is a collection of 100 short stories and poems written by those who wanted to share their park experiences. Personnel from both Glacier Association and Glacier National Park, along with some of the local authors, will be at this event to unveil the newest book related to Glacier’s Centennial. Refreshments will be served.

The Glacier Association (formerly known as the Glacier Natural History Association) is a non-profit partner of Glacier National Park that supports education through the sale of books and other media at the visitors centers in Glacier National Park. For more information call 406-888-5756 or go to www.glacierassociation.org.

Glacier National Park is quickly approaching its 100th anniversary. The park has empowered a team of volunteers to help plan and implement a community-based Centennial Program to take place through the end of 2009 and to run through the celebration year of 2010.
