Glacier Support Groups Donate$356,500 to Park

Share

Glacier National Park has picked up some extra spending money -- $356,500 to be exact -- from two groups that exist to help better the park. While the Glacier Fund gave the park a check for $182,000, the Glacier Natural History Association contributed $174,500.
Last year the money contributed by the history association was used to pay for those free publications you can pick up at various places in the park, as well as the "Native American Speaks" education program. The funding from the Glacier Fund is being used to pay for bighorn sheep studies as well as a loon project.
Since 1999 the Glacier Fund has raised $1.2 million for the park, with the money used on a wide array of projects, from trail work and improving handicapped access to boardwalks, overlooks and educational programs.
